CHRISTOPHER MERTZ

Hello my name is Chris, I am a registered psychotherapist (RP) and accredited music therapist (MTA). I feel passionate about mental health, community, and connecting with people. My background in front-line mental healthcare including palliative, addictions, and homelessness work has shown me the important role that relationships play in healing. I have experience working with a broad population, including teens and adults in areas of addiction, grief, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD/ASD, relationship breakdown, life transitions, and sexuality.

Life is full of different seasons! Some can be wonderful while others challenge us and can make us feel overwhelmed. No matter what season of life you are in, you are never alone, and I believe you always have the resources it takes to keep moving forward. I would like to help you connect to the people and things that give meaning to your life.

I provide a client-centered and trauma-informed space. My approaches include evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the Gottman Method. I also incorporate elements of narrative therapy and existential psychotherapy.

When I am not working, I love to play & watch sports, practice my musical instruments, and spend time with friends and family.

If you feel ready to take the next step, I would feel honored to explore how therapy can work for you.
