I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University.
I have worked for various agencies, including wilderness-based organizations, where I maintained a collaborative and strengths-based approach to supporting the mental health of children, teens, and adults from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, working as a massage therapist for four years allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of how to work with trauma and emotions held in the body. Challenges I have supported individuals with include anxiety, depression, addiction, high sensitivity, trauma, low self-worth, friendship and intimate relationship issues, eating disorders and body-image issues, grief, and life transitions. I believe in transparency and, as such, I am happy to share that I have been supported by multiple therapists throughout my own life challenges, such as losing a parent, experiencing anxiety, and going through an eating disorder.
My high degree of empathy coupled with my compassionate, warm, sensitive, and approachable nature is conducive to creating as safe a space as possible to build meaningful and positive therapeutic relationships with clients. I genuinely enjoy getting to know the clients I work with and allow each individual’s unique personality, needs, and preferences to guide our work together.
Although my counselling experience has been more informal, I have been exposed to and worked with somatic modalities, mindfulness approaches (including meditation), cognitive behavioural therapy, response-based therapy, and trauma-informed approaches. Throughout my Master’s program, I will have the chance to obtain extensive experience in Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Trauma-Informed Therapy.
In my personal time, I deeply enjoy connecting to nature, having outdoor adventures, engaging in spiritual practices, such as yoga and meditation, and creative pursuits.
My ultimate goal is to co-create a trusting and radically compassionate space where clients feel safe and supported to show up exactly as they are on any given day. Within this space, I aim to help clients connect to their inner wisdom and resources, which can often be hard to access when life becomes challenging. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting you to thrive.
